Chrome smart

Okay, I posted a question in the Geneva Auto Ahow thread.

How/where do you get a chrome tridion cell?

I was wanting my smart to be chrome themed but I think a silver tridion would clash with chrome wheels and trim.

Or would it clash?

The chrome plating process is done electrically, you'd have to completely disassemble the car , get down to bare metal on the tridion and dunk it in an electroplating bath and run a current through it to deposit the chrome on the steel. Costs mucho dinero! There are "chrome" paints but they aren't really chrome.

It is most likely a "Spray Chrome". Pretty believable stuff. A lot of the chrome stuff you see nowadays is done with this. I had considered doing it once I retired but my wife isn't too happy about it. Done lots of research and had planned a trip down to the place where they sell the systems and have training. May still go.

I had visions of a chrome smart.

Hey B, if you plan on doing the Spectra Chrome stuff, don't waste you time. I was looking into it as well and heard many a horror story about their processes and there atrocious customer service. I called one time to see where the nearest place was to get work done and the only gave me two places, N. Carolina and California. They said they rotate the referrals and wouldn't give me anyone close to where I live, pretty sad.

If you want to check out some cool spray on chrome work, check out Cosmichrome. The do everything from chrome cars to chrome microphones for American Idol. I plan on using them for my next project smart after my Explorer is paid off. This process is really big with the sport bike and hot rod crowd. I does look hot though

Imagine doing the entire car in chrome. It might finally get some attention!
