Cobalt XFE achieves higher mileage using "smart" engineering!
Sounds like GM is getting "smart"! The following is a quote from their Chevrolet website:
"Smart engineering allows the Cobalt XFE to pack all the fun, sporty style and driver-friendly features of the original Cobalt into a more efficient package."
And good for them; this stuff isn't rocket science. Still, the best they can do with the Cobalt is 36 mpg. Their new "smaller" car should be in the low 40s when it arrives.
I drove a Cobalt "loaner" once while my Aveo was in the shop, and I gotta tell you, for me............it SUCKED!! I couldn't WAIT to get my Aveo back!!
I loved out old Aveo, bought new for $8500, got totalled and paid out $11,000.
However, I didn't think the Cobalt was any worse, it just didn't hold as much as a hatchback.
