Who says it ISN'T legal? You? Maybe in your neck of the woods, but seriously you can not just make a generalization that it isn't legal.

Only reason I say this. Over a year ago I had the SAME argument about something with more than one person at different times. That's right guys, you know where this is going. Multiple times I had to argue with people that my SMART WAS LEGAL to drive on the road and that in fact if they looked in the back there was a license plate that was actually registered to that car that was purchased at a Mercedes/Smart dealership.

Seriously, you just can't say it isn't legal. There's always a loophole to make something legal. Remember, this picture is obviously 20+ years old though, so THAT particular car/bike could be grandfathered in too.

Looking at the body work (the right-side "chair"), it could be that it started out as a legally registered H-D side-hack then surreptitiously modified keeping the original serial number on the engine frame side of the rig.

EXACTLY! Loophole to keep it legal. They are always there, you just have to look hard enough to find it to get your way. Anyone who has done enough time in the military and consistently deals with regulations knows there are ways around rules (laws).

I have seen it before on another site or magazine. It says it was really fast. Perhaps if it had a roll-cage like the Smart, it would be safer? I think it needs a windshield (especially if it is driven the speed that I read it could go). There are better ways to get protein (and less painful).

Dunno how fast it could really go - a flathead 45 only made about 25-30 HP (until all the oil dripped out).
