Is no one else thinking that the 500, iQ, ect. are going to kill the resale of the smart?? In the used market people will choose the alternatives over the smart, they have more power, and much better transmissions.

I think the Fiat 500 is kinda cool for what it is. I checked the car out on youtube and there are a ton of videos on the car.

Perhaps, but can you flat tow the automatic transmission versions behind a motorhome without transmission or driveshaft add-ons? Until you can, I'll be keeping my Smart.

too Bad, I don't think the United Socialist States of America will allow them to be imported, I understand GM will be forced to make their new mini car in the USA so I bet the same will be true for Chrysler/Fiat. It's all about the UAW, they will probably force them to make it in USA and retail it for $30,000. I hope next time Obama wants to go up to NY for dinner and a play he drives a Prius since he's gonna force us all into them while the Chinese ride around in Hummers...

Choice is almost (always) welcomed. I don't think there will be many in the way of Cabriolets like the smart fortwo.

Then we can expect a smart plant stateside in short order, following that thinking? Hummer sales were always a fashion statement, and who really needs a blatantly recycled Blazer?

IMHO, the Cinquecento competes with the MINI, not our smart... As it does with other mini-cars in Europe, and not the micro-car market!

GM building the new mini car in the USA was forced on them by the UAW and Obama since they don't have much of a say anymore due to the bankruptcy, I doubt the Smart will ever be built in the USA. Also, whether you like or dislike Hummer (I hate them) it's nice having freedom to buy whatever car you want, after all, I kn ow many people that don't like Smarts, I'm afraid soon we will be all driving the new electric "People's Car" while being taxed for every mile we drive...
