Ford Transit van coming to the U.S.?

Talk about something I thought we'd never see here, this iconic British commercial van (in just about every Brit bank robbery film the heavy mob uses a Transit) may show up here as a.....family people hauler, the Ford Family One:

Quote:
The Ford Transit Connect is a small and boxy European commercial vehicle. It's hugely successful and Ford is bringing it to the U.S. market this summer. For a vehicle that can carry 135 cubic feet of stuff, the base price of $21,475 is very business-friendly. Throw in its 22/25 mpg EPA fuel economy ratings and it makes good economic sense compared to a full-size Ford E-series van. Its little 2.0-liter inline-4 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission isn't very exciting, but it's durable and wallet-conscious.

The transit is a legend over here, so don't diss the tranny!
There are supposed to be over a million combinations of setup on them, with flatbeds, tipper backs, various wheelbases, minibuses, you name it transit has an app.
I work with children that have special needs and often drive a transit minibus, it is fairly good to drive for a bus, good torque from the deisel engine, the same engine is now put in the also legendary Landrover Defender.

Should be a great van for the US. Right now all we have is the Caravan and then full size vans like the Econoline. Some need something taller than a minivan but not as large as the E series. Florist, landscapers, Stanley Steemer, ect. will love this.

I saw this on Monday at the Auto Show in NYC. For the US market, it'a a concept only right now. They're putting it on display at auto shows to see what kind of feedback they get.

Been Waiting

Me and my business partner saw these at the Dallas Auto Show a couple of years ago and have been waiting for them to hit the shore. Just hope we will still be able to acquire one. Have to check the piggy bank.
