The funniest thing happened....

while I went to a small car show Saturday. I parked out front, the car was filthy but I wouldn't enter it anyway as it was a 1980 and prior car show PLUS I am highly against someone going down to the dealer, picking it up and heading over to a car show.

As soon as I parked out front a bunch of people came running over to see it, I answered questions for about 10 minutes then a show organizer, a nice older gentleman said he had reserved one but was having second thoughts because of a local newspaper article from about three weeks ago where they made it sound like a deathtrap - actually it was his wife who had reservations about the car so he called her over. I answered more questions to her and then he told her she should ask for a ride, I went ahead and insisted as it seemed like he loved the car but she was so-so. Took her around the block and she was sold, absolutely loved it.

Once we got back I parked a little closer in on pavement near the registration area as she said I should park it out with the cars which I gracefully declined due to it being a new car. 15 more minutes of people rushing over to ask questions when they finally came over and asked again to put it in the show area which I declined AGAIN, then they said, no we insist - all the spectators keep walking out here to see the car so PLEASE drive it in there. I said I'd like to park beside buddies with the Model T's & A's and they said fine so off I went. Soon as I parked, another HOUR of answering questions when I finally went and walked around the show to see some awesome cars.

Saturday topped them all though I was in a grocery store for ten minutes when someone tracked me down INSIDE the store to ask questions about the car. I have found myself answering "Where did you get that?" with the location of the dealer even though I know they are asking in a round about way is it a Nissan, Toyota, Honda etc.

Great Story - car people like all cars!

That is a great story!

We like to go to cars shows to look at all the great old cars and we find that people who like cars are interested in ALL cars. We see a lot of enthusiasm when we go in to park our bumblebee smart and also on the way out. Lots of "thumbs-up" and grins and questions, too. People actually stake out our car in the parking section waiting for us to come back so they can talk about the smartie.

It is so cool that they wanted you to pull your smart into the show! And that you made a convert! You are a great ambassador for the brand.

I was thinking that earlier. I should get my cut. My parents neighbor chased me down yesterday evening and I gave her a 45 minute presentation about Everything Smart. She's on the reservation list now and knows the orphan process.

Just a question..where'd you get you mirror mascot? I've got a Bumblebee on order except mine has Bug Guts Red interior.

Ah, the first week, people honked, pointed, shouted out windows at stop lights. Everywhere I went, it caused a discussion with "how much did you pay for it" being one of the top questions that took this old lady from the Midwest by surprise. One NEVER asks someone how much they paid. Second week, it was much calmer. I was fine with that too, until I came out of the grocery store and found 20 people, including store managers ringing my car. I now have the "presentation" down to about 5 minutes with maybe 10 for questions, unless it's raining. Tow trucks have chased me down at 11pm, causing me to look for parking place with people...but he was quite nice and just wanted to know "what is that?".

Now, I'm a month into my "Lil Tic Tac" and I am in love with a car, who would have thunk it.
