Getting rid of Pontiac, but keeping Buick and GMC. Guess I can get a well discounted G8 here soon.

RIP: Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Plymouth.

The previous GTO was terrible, but the Solstice (and the Saturn Sky) were winners in the style department. Badge engineering the Aveo and Cobalt was also not a bright idea. The Hyundai Accent/Kia Rio and Elantra/Mazda 3 have more style.

Yea, thats too bad. The Solstice and the Vibe were decent-seeming cars. I don't know why they didn't scrap Buick instead, as most Buicks seem to be the dying breed of larger gas-guzzling cars, and I've rarely seen a "hit" buick recently (although I liked my dad's Regal he had in 1988, which was a bit ahead of its time).

In the style department yes, but when you drive one you could care less what it looks like. Give me the 6.0 with a 6speed. I got to drive one of these while I was working at a shop while in school, fell in love with it. G8 GXP with the 6speed would be nice as well. Maybe I should just move to Australia 'cause those Falcolns aint bad either.

As pointed out on the news this evening, on top of this GM will close the majority of its plants for 9 weeks this summer, which will avoid adding additional inventory but my guess is won't reduce current inventory much if any. Once the dust settles, the four remaining brands GM sells in the States will have combined sales figures below those of the three Toyota brands sold here. At that point GM is firmly at #2 (possibly #3 depending on how well Ford does with their restructuring efforts) and Chrysler will (my guess again) disappear within the year.
