The ECR 94 describes a 40% offset crash at 34.8 mph but what does it say about it? That the occupants should survive? Unscathed? Less than $500 of damage? Oh well.

Thanks, jwight. I think it shows a great deal of forward thinking to design the car in such a way that it can meet current safety regulations in India and come in at the promised 1 lac rupees price, but also be easily "upgraded" to meet the upcoming Indian safety standards as well as those of Europe and America. A true world car, and one I'm excited to see arrive on our shores soon.
Can you imagine what the lucky owners of this new "Nano" must be going through now that they own this little car. The gawkers, the questions, you know all that stuff we put up with in our Smarts.
I think after skimming the first mess in the links provided by jwight that the regulation covers the steering column and the forces and movements thereof. I didn't notice anything about passengers but, perhaps, that's in the amendments and correction. Whew!
