Recalling some posts concerning portable GPS navigators for smarts, an article appeared in my local newspaper today. It chronicled the alarming increase in car break-ins to steal the navigators. Seeing one stuck to the windshield is an open invitation for theft, as is an empty mounting bracket. The thieves even target cars with only a residual suction cup ring, assuming the unit is somewhere inside. Even if it isn’t there, significant damage is done by the break-in.
