I find it interesting that at shows and in the media they want to make it sound like everyone wants a "green" car(*).
Yet when you look at the statistics of what real people actually buy, the #1 is a 3,300 lbs Camry and the #2 is a Ford-F Series.

I hope you've excluded the smart from that list, it has one of the greenest production facilities on Earth and the car itself is 98% recyclable.
That's "green" to me.
A moderately old car still would probably give out horrible pollution and once it becomes crumpled or disabled, it's likely to end up in a junkyard where it'll rust away.
