Greencore's solar powered air conditioner

Greencore's solar powered air conditioner

August 25, 2008 It's an idea that makes perfect sense - when it's hot, the sun is out, so why not utilize that energy to help cool downCooling down - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . It would be nice if there was a car version of this. Perhaps a future Fortwo could incorporate a car version of this allowing one to have AC and high mpg?

Well, I'd take issue with "when it's hot, the sun is out", but that's what the batteries are for. I like all things solar powered! Kinda pricey at $5,700+ for 600 square feet. A unit for the smart could be scaled down drastically from that unit though.
Not sure where the solar panels would be located on the car. But, in the EV they could do double duty to trickle charge the drive batteries when the A/C is not in use.

If one has a solid roof, one could possibly put on top(?). I like the idea of trickle charging the battery.
