Perhaps they are using it as a way to compare the size of their vehicle to that of the Smart car?

I think Smart Utility Vehicle is clever.

That is the problem with SUVs in general; high center of gravity. Since they are designed for going over things, they are not intended to be driven like a high end sports car.
