If all smarts were whisked away by aliens...

(Or reclaimed by aliens...)

What would you purchase to replace your car, assuming your auto insurance covers alien abduction, and why? My list would include the following. What vehicles would be on your short list?

1. Honda Fit (sporty, like the redesign, it's a Honda, close dealer, love a 5 door hatch)
2. VW Golf TDI 5-door (diesel, VW handling, like the redesign, close dealer, 5-door hatch)
3. Toyota Yaris 5-door (it's a Toyota, close dealer, 5 door hatch, economical)

I'd wait for a Fiat 500 Abarth.

Until then, I'd drive my truck(it gets 30+ mpg).

What kind of truck? I'm happy with about 19-20 out of mine, but I do need to tow and carry four people at times. 4WD comes in handy too.

It's an '83 Plymouth Scamp. Highly modified 2.2L, 4 speed. Had it since high school. Funny thing is, after I bumped the compression, added a hotter cam, and ported the head, plus the other usual go-fast goodies, I actually increased the mileage.

My problem now is keeping my foot out of it so it gets that kind of mileage.

6500 rpm power shifts are a lot of fun!!!

If aliens took my Smart, I would get a Mini Cooper. I think they are cool. If it is too small for a big guy like me, I might go for a Toyota Yaris or a Chevy HHR (low cost and versatile).
