Nanny Government. Pretty soon they will outlaw beds because so many people die in them.

Probably a combination - both limiting wheelslip from the drive wheels, and limiting the oversteer that would have caused the car to plow forward.

I googled "Toyota, IQ, Scion, US, delayed" nothing coming up. Seems like the IQ is not coming to the US anytime soon, or else their marketing people are all on sabbatical.

A simple "in line" switch will cure the problem

In line switch would probably work if you used it while the ignition is off. Dynamically flipping something like a simple toggle switch that is not debounced will probably trigger a CEL. Better if somebody can hack into the ECM and find a trigger point for a switch.

I just leave the fuse out. Car is fine. I'm better for it. But hey, I drive a 1965 Corvair convertible in the summer.

Yep - and how's Fido doing chowing down on that melamine laden dog food? I agree, the nanny state should get out of our way - let our kids chew on lead painted toys, wear flammable pajamas, and drink tainted baby formula. Live free or die!

I'm with you on that, We have all these restictions on us here in the US, yet I still feel that the Government gives me freedoms others don't.

I love my government. It rents me my house of course they claim I own it but if I stop paying the property taxes they will take it away so it's really just a government rental. They tell me how much water I am allowed to use to flush my toilet. It doesn't matter if you live in Death Valley, or Portland Oregon, or own a lake, you still get the same amount to flush and it's illegal to buy a toilet that flushes with more than a gallon. Thank-goodness you can still flush twice without anybody knowing...yet. It's illegal to drive a motorcycle without a helmet on. Why I really don't know. You can be an illegal alien and walk into any emergency room and they have to treat you. I don't even want to guess what that costs all the rest of us......and on it goes

Actually, responsible parents can avoid such issues by...

... monitoring what toys they buy for their kids ...
... monitoring what pajamas they buy for their kids ...
... monitoring what baby formula they buy for their kids ...

Take for example Whole Foods and Wild Oats. Millions of people buy there out of their own choice and possibly thinking of their own kids (I don't, BTW). The market provides and brands as "organic" or "pure" or "vegan" with little interference from any bureaucrat. Does anyone have any doubt that if lead were legal in toys, there would be brands catering to parents concerned about it and advertising all over that their toys are lead-free?

Today, on the other hand no-one in the USA has the freedom of purchasing a Toyota iQ, have it shipped over, and drive it in this otherwise fair land at 66 miles per gallon.

Here is the case of Bill Gates, richest man around, yet still unable to import and drive a Porsche of his choice.

Land of the Free!

!
It's not like the labels say contain lead, Will start on fire, or does not contain melamine. The US Government makes sure it doesnt happen. If it didn't then those safer choices would fetch a premium that the poor could not afford just like whole foods. Thus creating a greater Gap between haves and Havenots.

66 miles per imperial Gallon not US Gallon, lets get over this fact already.

and Bill Gates can fly to where he can drive that Porsche. I wouldn't want to share the road with it anyway.

Speeking of which. I wouldn't want the road filled with cars with faulty and cheep equipment which is what we would have if we didn't have the requirements we have. You may want to save money and drive them but I sure as heck don't want to share the road with you.

If you want to do buisness in the US Market, build your products to meet our standards. If you want less safe and higher poluting products, Move to a place where Ralph Nater hasn't had such an influence.

Stepping off soap box now
