Tesla now has 560 Roadster orders, on track for fall delivery of Job 1
Word this afternoon that Tesla Motors, the SV EV startup, now has taken deposits for 560 roadsters. Spokesman David Vespremi says the automaker remains on track to deliver its first vehicle this fall. Word on the specific delivery date of Job 1 could come soon.
He also cleared up a bit of confusion. There was a sense that Tesla had sold out its very limited first model-year run, and was now taking deposits on its second model-year roadsters.
In fact, Vespremi says, Tesla has the capacity at the Lotus factory in the U.K. to make 800 roadsters in the first year, and all 800 of them will be 2008 models. That includes the Signature 100, the first 100 models that
