Member Ideas for smart Commercials

This thread Crazy idea for smart publicity stunt got me interested in how creative we as SCoA members could get in creating our own smart commercial.

I've always pictured the smart couple traveling cross country with another couple in a luxury (domestic or import) incidentally, traveling the same route.

They pass several times and the luxury owners look down their noses at the smart couple who generally ignore them as they are having so much fun in their little smart.

They both arrive at the same service station for fuel at the same time and the smart owner puts $24 of fuel in the smart, while the luxury owner is already over $50.

The luxury owner looks over at the smart, smiles and says to the smart owner; "Is it electric?"

The scene fades to the smart logo and the announcer says "smart, open your mind."

I always had this in mind for the interchangeable panels:

- Masked figures in overalls exit a bank with alarms blaring and hop into a black/black smart cabrio with top up.
- As they speed around a corner, police cars zoom up to the front of the bank and some continue on to chase the smart.
- The smart enters a parking structure with a single entrance/exit and proceeds to a floor where they park beside a dumpster.
- The police, realizing there is no other exit from the structure, block the exit and call for backup. They start stopping all the cars exiting the building for a look-see.
- The smart burglars strip off their overalls to reveal plain clothes underneath, and dump the overalls/masks into the dumpster.
- They then swap all the panels off the black car changing it to yellow and put the cabrio top down. The black panels also go in the dumpster.
- As the cops begin to search the building, they nonchalantly exit the building and the cops don't give them a second look.
- Fade to black and put up "Not that you would..." and then "smart, open your mind".

This is probably a bit too edgy for smart, but I like the concept.

Love it, Could it be combined with the release of the ED?

It sounds like it could be an episode of a CSI where they get fingerprints off the panels and evidence off the cloths that was discarded. They would make comments about how 'smart' they (bandits) were.

I always thought that a series of shots poking fun at the massive SUV owners would be cool...

> Show a VERY tight parking space in a full parking lot. Several SUV owners look at the small spot, shake their heads, and drive off. At last, a smart fortwo drives up and pulls in with ease.

> Show a gas station with several SUV owners looking at the price on the pump as they fill their gas pigs. All the SUV owners look VERY unhappy. Show the smart owner filling up his car with a big smile on his/her face.

> Show two car dealers side by side, the one on the left has SUVs marked with the high prices. Show the smart for two dealer on the right with the low prices. One of the SUV owners looks to the left, to the right, and walks over the the smart fortwo dealer. The slogan on the screen and spokes says, "It's time to go smart"

How about an overhead shot of a bunch of yellows in a "PacMan" formation coming up behind an SUV on a very wide road?

Oh wait, someone has mentioned that before.

How about some one who looks like Einstein saying it was an obvious choice for him.

Thank You BobDiaz!!

> The Corvette owner making fun of the little smart when it pulls up to the service island says to the owner,"My vette has leather interior!" "So does my smart!", he replies. "My vette has heated seats, power windows, automatic wipers, headlights and remote mirrors." "So does my smart", again is the reply. "Well, my vette goes 130 MPH!" "My smart goes fast enough to be fun and gets 40 MPG." he replies.

(Shot from the rear of the two vehicles) The Corvette owner then gets into his car and puts down the convertible top. The smart owner puts down his convertible top.

As the vette owner drives off, he looks over to his wife who is eying the smart and says, "It is a smart little car!!" She just smiles!

Off stage announcer "smart.....miles of smiles!"

I had another thought about a smart commercial based on my experience with the smart at a Nissan dealership. For those of you that recall that post, I spent a lot of time talking to a few Nissan sales guys about the smart and they forgot to even try and sell me a car or give me a card. Anyway, here goes:

- Spot opens on a fairly tight shot of two guys talking, one in a shirt/tie and the other guy with a sweater turned to the side so you can't see the front of his shirt
- A smart is parked behind them and you can see a "New Car Sale!" sign off to the side
- The sweater guy is asking if he can have a test drive and tie guy says no
- The sweater guy asks if he can sit inside and the answer is again no
- They go back and forth about a couple things and the answer is still no
- A third large guy walks into the frame and says that he finished dropping his car off for service and is ready to go
- The shot now widens and we can see that it's a new car dealer for some competing brand (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc.)
- The tie guy and the large guy get in the smart and drive off
- A forlorn looking sweater guy can now be seen from the full front and you see his name tag and new car sales badge as he watches the smart drive away
- The commercial fades to black and says "smart, open your mind"
- The viewer realizes the twist - the guy wanting to drive/sit in the smart was the salesperson for another brand

"smart, open your mind..... or open your wallet" imposed over a view of an SUV at a gas pump, zooming on the readout as it goes past $60.
