It looks big in that photo and it is larger than a MINI (way bigger than a classic MINI), but with "overall dimensions ... close to that of the Nissan Versa", it's not that large.
See, under the scrutiny of the many ignorant American (aka, smart & Mini naysayers), even Mini has to make something bigger because we're "addicted" to large cars...

I think it's a very sharp looking car. Looks $$$$$, like all Mini's. It's the same size car as, a Fit, Versa, or the new Fiesta..... Still a small car. Makes sense to go 4 doors. Can't wait to drive one.
