be skeptical on these things!
Interesting side note on the 2/24 'standard' warranty for smart, for the few of us who may have bought VW's in the late '90's (I'll use my '98 New Beetle as an example) VW was only offering a 2 year warranty at the time. I didn't buy an extended one as I guess didn't see the downside unless something really bad occured (which didn't). The first thing that may have been considered a material failure was a pre-mature failure of the power steering hose (car only had 36K on it, but was already 4 years old) .. so I was out about $180 (parts + labor) which is a far cry from what these extended warranties would have cost (not even mentioning the usual $100 deductible). I'm not sure if I'll go with anything for the smart as I guess we can afford to gamble on anything beyond the first two-years but I have heard some horror stories on typical MB repair costs. At best this should be considered insurance that in most cases you hope you don't need! In all cases, and I agree with this if you can get through it ** read what it covers and doesn't cover. By far (and I don't know if this is still current) the best mfg warranty out there is BMW which covers EVERYTHING (including wear items) for 50K or 4-years
MB used to offer something almost the same but dropped it due to high cost which is too bad.
