Morgan to introduce the Three Wheeler to U.S.

There are plans for Morgan‘s radical Three-wheeler to be sold via three U.S. dealerships later in 2012.

The project was developed as an open two-seater that weighs 1,155 pounds and is equipped with an 80hp 2.0-liter V-twin engine made by S&S of Wisconsin. Power is sent to the single rear wheel through a Mazda Miata 5-speed transmission enabling the Morgan to accelerate 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

Now the BAD NEWS, the base Three-wheeler is priced at $40,000 in the UK BEFORE taxes . . .

40 HP/L, eh? Even if it's got insane low-end torque, 40 HP/L is just plain terrible.

I wonder how much better fuel economy it would get if it used an 80 HP/L 1L engine, designed to make power by means other than sheer displacement?

Not quite sure where you got that?

Will it live up to their reputation?

This thread inspired yet another "Googling" session looking for vintage Morgan three-wheelers. Interesting stuff, here's a link. http://www.morgan3wheeler.co.uk/history.html

This link takes you to the Morgan page, where you can check out history as well as configure your own new Three-Wheeler.

A friend of mine has a couple of Morgans. While costly, they are beautiful and reliable cars. I looked at getting a Plus 4 before they stopped importing a few years ago, but couldn't talk myself into spending that much.

Nice! I like! Something different from the normal day to day.

Of course as always.......I'd hate to get hit by a smart in that thing.

Back in my service days, you used to see the Morgan roadster with the belt around the hood. They had wooden frames and I was told that was why they stopped letting them in.
