In the February edition of Ward's Autoworld I received today there was a "Brief" about; Tata Says Tiny Nano Nearly Ready for U.S. Launch
To paraphrase a few facts
The Nano Europa, launching in Europe 2011 has several changes from the $2,500 Indian model. 8" longer body, 3" wider and wheelbase 2" longer. SHOULD Tata bring the Nano to the U.S. it still would likely need to strengthen the roof to meet new government safety regulations in 2012.
It retains the 12” wheels, but they say they meet the U.S. standards. [I know how difficult it is to find the smart tires, these would be really tough to find – RB] With the only change that may be needed is to add a fourth lug to each.
The Chairman said that he is considering launching the Nano in the U.S. in three years. In India there are three trim grades, but most units sold are the legendary $2,500 base model. The European Nano, with additional content, will be priced at about E8,000 ($11,500).
