There are a few problems yet to be solved. If either Chrysler or Fiat goes down the tubes in the next year, obviously the deal's off. Chrysler has an upcoming press release in the next few weeks to reassess the deal. Also, as much as I'd probably be first in line for a 500, the fact that Chrysler will be building them is worrisome.
In the old days, Fiats had notorious issues with faulty electrics and rust, but with modern component vendors and non-Soviet steel, I suspect things should be better. Then again, the last time someone tried bringing a Fiat variant over here, it was that Malcolm Bricklin chap... remember the Yugo? ;)
