Is this the same Fiat 500 to be sent to the states?

Or is this an "older but smaller ancestor? I saw some pictures of an Abarth but I didn't think it was that small.

No, this is the original 500. First Fiat 500 was built in 1957. The one in the video is looks like 1969-1972 Fiat 500F.
The new generation went into the production in 2007.

I was sat a light next to a new 500 on Randolph St. here in Chicago - the new 500 and the Smart are pretty similar in size.

That guy must be 6'7" or 6'8" tall. I am 6'3" tall and never fit like that in my old 600 based Abarth 1000 Berlina Corsa. I did have a close to the floor racing seat and no sunroof, but that guy looks clown like in the 500.
