Noise factor aside, this goes 60 miles between charges. Paul could hardly ride that thing from his shop to NYC. Until there is some revolution in batteries these electric toys still suffer the same SEVERE limits they did when I had my G.E. electric yard tractor back in the late 70's. It's always cool to blow smoke on the non-technical types that our schools have been putting out since the late 60's, but when the rubber meets the road it takes evolved mechanical practices. You can't reinvent the laws of physics, even if your name is Gore.

Batteries haven't advanced all that much in their "base technology" since Volta set those frog legs twitching. You still get 1.something volts out of a cell, and all of the improvements since that discovery have been in longevity and electrolyte chemistry (which is pretty much the same thing).

Aspire to more than 1.5 volts, and you have to start talking creation of a "battery" (which is nothing more than a bank of cells, ranged next to each other in a similar fashion as the guns in an artillery battery), thin cell technology, and alternate electrolytes. Then there's all of that hydrogen (and heat) to get rid of...

It's amazing that batteries haven't advanced all that much considering all the other things that have been created.

Or you could put the batteries currently available in a car that doesn't weigh a McFat 3500 lbs......... which would call for a whole new set of rules, and different expectations........ that's the REAL problem. The bike here is cool.
