"smart Abarth"

There was a news item this morning about the discovery of a giant fossilized sea scorpion. In describing its size they used the phrase: "How big? Bigger than you, and at 8 feet long as big as some Smart cars."

Maybe that will give Abarth an incentive to begin breathing on smarts.

I own a Fiat 500 derivative with a bunch of Abarth go-faster goodies installed. It's almost fast enough to get out of its own way!

Thanks guys. I think she's cute, but I'm biased!

You can't tell from the photo just how tiny the car is (she's actually the same length as as the original Mini, and a lot lower).

Hand made steel coachwork by Moretti, design by Michelotti - before he became famous and went out on his own (notice the similarity to some of his later work like the DAF Marathon).

Original Mini height was/is 1350 mm / 53.1 in; what's the Moretti? Thanks.

I remember working on the original model "Dafodil" (I think that was how is was spelled). Also the first CVT. DAF, Dutch Auto Federation

jwight - just went out to the garage with a tape measure and (to the nearest 1/4") the height is 48".

24-42 - those Dafodil's were cute little cars; pretty popular in England growing up as kid.

Karl - Now you mention it I do recall the DAF transmission had two belts, one for each drive shaft at the back, which obviated the need for a differential. Great traction in slippery conditions (not that the DAF had enough power to have major traction issues).
