Smart drops Yellow - Toyota Yaris picks up where Smart left off

Was driving past the Toyota dealer this afternoon when a yellow car caught my eye on the Toyota dealer's lot. It looked like a Yaris 3dr. Turned around and checked it out. Almost the same pale-ish yellow as the Smart "was", slightly paler.

Asked the salesman about it, he was on me like....well, you know....quick. He said it is a new for '09 color (as was some new shade of blue). I wonder if Toyota heard all of us whining about the loss of yellow for Smart and they may have done it to have a "visibly colored small car".

Told the salesman from the get-go I had no intention of getting one but if I needed a roomier car it was #1 on my list. He had more questions about the Smart than I had about the Yaris. Of course me trying explain to him Smart makes it when he asked who made it was like talking to a brick wall. Even after I said Daimler, after I explained Daimler/Mercedes, he "re-pronounced" Daimler virtually identically he understood - I didn't think my accent was that bad. (our Toyota dealer adjoins our Mercedes dealer here).

Also, the car was surrounded by salesmen while I talked to him but they scattered like roaches with the lights freshly turned on once I started heading back to the car.

Not as cute as a Smart, but if I did need a back seat it would be my #1 choice. Fit is #2.

It might have a back seat but how room would it be? It would have been one of the alternatives considered if Smart was not in the USA.
