Looks like the Soul and Cube can fight over the boxy wagon segment now and the 5-door hatch class loses a player. Of course, the new Yaris looks better even if it is old school tech. The xA was nice, but I never did warm up to the xD.
"After a strong run, Scion has now announced the xB will be joining the xA in Scion’s automotive graveyard. Also gone is the universally unloved xD. ...
Jack Hollis, Vice President of Scion told Ward’s Auto, “We don’t have plans for a direct xB or xD replacement,” which means we might never see a box-shaped Scion ever again. "
I loved the Gen I xB. My brother in law bought a Gen II xB, didn't like that they got bigger and bulkier. IMO, they did themselves in when they got bigger. A lot like Saturn.

I liked the look of the Scion xB when it first came out. I was not so sure when it got bigger; perhaps it a little of a 'retro' look to it. I think they should have kept the same size but with different styling.
I too loved the xB gen 1. Wonder what they will produce now? IQ and TC? BLAH!
Also my gf and mother both have a 2011 kia soul + and they are great vehicles. If I needed more than 1 passenger car, I would have bought the Veloster or soul as well.
I was going to buy a Gen 1 Xb when they came out. I wanted it for advertsing my business. I test drove one, and decided it was too slow. The salesman said that they offered a dealer installed turbo package......although, he was never able to come up with a price, or additional info...
Maybe the HAMSTAR commercials drove the nail in the Xb coffin ? (The This or That version..That was my favorite car commercial)
Hyundai and Kia were, at one point, super cheap. Yet they have become a true contender for legitimate, decent cars.
So it seems that, if cheap cars are done right by their owners, they eventually become OK and then, some of them, actually good. Take the Smart ForTwo as an example of expense. It was a great idea, but now you can buy an xB for a couple grand more. The xB is easily 2.5 times the amount of car, and much better quality.

smart needs to be equally creative !
psssst. The hamster commercials were for the Kia Soul. No nail, they helped, big time. Never heard a person say the didn't like them.
EDIT: Duh, took that the wrong way. Yes, the Kia commercial upped the sales of the Soul. Duh!! Not thinking straight, going to bed now.

We owned a first gen xB, a 2006 that we bought new. It cost $14,500. Scion had a hit with the xB, and i will never understand why they killed with the second gen, which shouldn't have even been called an xB. I am sorry i ever traded mine in and would get another in a heartbeat.
