Top Gear USA coming to NBC

Another opportunity for us Americans to take a perfectly good British TV series and goober it up: Top Gear USA: Top Gear Officially Coming To NBC!

Some things get lost in translation

I am hoping for the best, but prepared for the less than stellar results

Clarkson, Hammond, and May make the show. Just see how it translates to Fifth Gear, even in Britain.

HEY - we didn't screw up The Office. Of course that's about it so the list is short.

The Top Gear 3 came through a town nearby here on one of their shows. They portrayed the locals from here as card carrying hicks who chase out and throw rocks at any stranger that comes through town. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW WRONG THEY WERE! I have yet to see them throw rocks at anyone.

They are kind of hard on us yanks aren't they. I wish NBC had just bought the rights to show the Brit version as is here in the states. The off beat nature of the 3 hosts makes the show AND it shows us what we are missing here in the states.

Has Top Gear ever done the smart? I Youtubed it but couldn't find it. Saw a great clip of the show though which I have never seen. Very cool.

From the link:

BURBANK - June 16, 2008 - Television and radio comedian Adam Carolla, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust, and TV construction guru Eric Stromer, will lead NBC’s pilot of the international smash hit series “Top Gear.” The production will begin later this week.

This says all I need to know: this show will suck. A 2nd rate comedian + drift racer + home improvement guy = crap.

BTW, I diagree that we got "The Office" right. No comparison with Ricky Gervais and the UK version.

If the US version is anything like the shows on Speed TV it will last about 2 episodes if they are lucky.

Most of the fun is watching them make fun of the US cars....How can they keep up this tradition in the US version!
