The Toyota iQ-Will they sell it here in the U.S.? (Moved to Off-Topc)

Have read about this car for a couple of years now and it seems to be a clone of the Smart. Do you think Toyota will give the go ahead and start selling it in the states?

Toyota IQ

No way is it a "clone" of the smart. Front-engine, 4-cylinder, 4-passenger, no Tridion Safety Cell, no Mercedes-Benz safety engineering, and not an automated manual transmission, just a conventional one (stick or automatic). Basically a re-think of Toyota's very successful front-wheel drive small-car format first introduced in the USA in 1983 as the Tercel.

That is not to say it is not innovative, I am sure it will be a cool car with interesting packaging solutions. Just very different from a smart.

Both cars will do the job. I like the fact that Toyota is getting into the micro-car game in the USA. Competition is always good for the customer.

If it was so innovative... why couldn't they actually think of their own name? I know immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but come on now.

Yes. Because people are brain washed into thinking the Toyota is better than anything and everything else.

The first look at the IQ looked really good but they did some redesigning and now it looks kinda like a compacted Yaris. Anyone notice all the new Toyota have that same big front, even the Scions are like that now. Also, RollingStone, I don't see how you can bash on Toyota, they make great cars that may never need to see a repair shop. As for the question of if it's coming to the USA, I'll bet you it will be sooner rather than later...

Angel, as far as reliability goes Toyota and Honda are the best, sorry, I'm not brain washed, it's just the truth.

Toyota/Lexus has been ripping off MB design for years now. Why would they stop with their IQ?

the IQ looks nothing like the SMART, Wake up America tiny cars have been around in Europe for years, it's only new here.
