At least Toyota recognizes it has a recall issues, and will, make the effort to fix it. All large car manufactures have recalls. There have been numerous recalls on all the new Hondas I've ever owned. Some 12 new Honda's. There isn't any new cars out there, that is prefect, beyond recall.
While I agree with you smark, Toyota has recently been whining in the news about being treated unfavorably in the press. Huh. the press never did that to GM, Ford, or Chrysler.
Also, Toyota has had issues with engines siezing up in their v6 models due to clogging oil flow passages, but they tried to do a secret recall on these. They are sneaky and underhanded. While they do make a good a car, it is no better than any of the big 3. The difference is only they have better PR people, and in this case preception is reality
A shortened peddle will not fix what happened to the Guy ABC interviewed.
His Peddle was not stuck, But the Accelerator was Stuck.
He shifted into N, Coasted into a Toyota Dealer with is Engine Racing and the pedal all the way up.
ABC tonight said that it's neither the carpet nor the pedal; Toyota doesn't know what's causing the issue, said Brian Ross the reporter who's on the story, who added that it may be the computer...
BTW: those models listed above are not only recalled, their sales are also suspended nationwide as of today!

Toyota halts sales of 8 recalled vehicle models
Toyota is taking the extraordinary step of pulling cars off the showroom floor and halting production lines because it can't figure out why the accelerator pedal has stuck in some instances.

Reason: added news alert
I'm not a Toyota fan at all. I have to say, I find this whole situation hilarious, feel bad for the owners who are affected by this, and really hope this knocks Toyota off of its pedestal...
Now, bring on some sort of Honda scandal... they both need to be put in their places.
