The government's results showed small cars as the top choice for shoppers looking for Cash for Clunker deals. But an independent analysis by Edmunds.com disputed those results, and showed that two full-size trucks and a small crossover SUV were actually among the top-ten buys."

I'm going out on a limb of a very tall tree here and say that the Escape sure beats the Canyonaro (Expedition) by a long shot as far as people haulers go. The Silverado is a good choice too for someone who NEEDS a truck (as is the F-150 I suppose). I have to tow all the time with the Avalanche....shifts much better than the smart does when you are hauling over 6,000lbs.

Jeep Patriot? I guess that's a Jeep thing and I just don't understand...

The list is going to more US cars though, and I guess that's a good thing.

The article I read said that the government stats counted each configuration of a truck as a different vehicle. For example, if someone bought a 4WD F-150 and someone else bought a rear wheel drive F-150, instead of counting that as two F-150's sold, it was tallied as one each of two different vehicles. (I'm just making up those examples, I don't really know if it comes as rear or 4WD.)

The Compass is an oddity to me, and I'm suprised that the are selling so well. I don't like the looks of them much at all, and they are based on the Mitsubishi Lancer platform, using the GEMA engine, thus has more in common with new Mitsus and Hyundais than any Jeep.
