Peter Windsor addressed the funding issue and apparently they have the startup funds in hand.

Wouldn't be a bad idea if Penske was brought in to managed it. It would make him a very busy man though!

Considering the $$$ Honda spent and gained little and the ton of $$$ Toyota spent and they are just now seeing results I doubt that a non-manufacturer backed team has much of a chance....the learning curve is just too steep and expensive in F1 for any new team no matter how deep the pockets and $62-mil in F1 is not very deep pockets. Kinda like the old saying... How do you turn a Billionaire into a Millionaire? Have him buy a F1 team!

I agree, it does not make financial sence but this billonares want to become millonares so lets enjoy watching them live their F1 dreams and maybe the planets might line up and they will do well.

I'm just glad there is a new team going into F1 instead of dropping out. Maybe with some of the new price controls the US team will have a chance to slightly better then last.

Actually it wouldn't be a good idea at all. Penske has not been part of the F1 scene for too long and is another insignificant American in the eyes of Bernie Ecclestone. Peter Windsor is an integral part of modern F1 culture and is well liked by Eccelstone. This alone could be vital to having their team licensed.

In terms of drivers, Scott Speed has F1 experience, and Marco Andretti has tested in F1 periodically since '06. And Marco would bring the allure of the legacy of his grandfather Mario, a former World Champion. This would be a solid start. I don't know enough about Kyle Busch to form an opinion, but I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that Danica Patrick. She has established herself as a self-merchandiser since she has not been able to do so as someone who wins races (despite the best equipment), and her hissy-fit personality would not be tolerated in F1. Besides, a few years ago Bernie Eccelstone told her personally (after congratulating her on finishing the 500) that women should wear white like the other appliances.

I think Marco and Danica would be a great lineup.
Marco for the prestige of having an Andretti back in an F1 car as long as he is better than his dad, as he sucked as an F1 driver, and Danica as there has'nt been an women in F1 for years and the publicity would make the sponsors flood in.
Just think how funny it would be to see an F1 car with TAMPAX splattered all over it.
