VW Rabbit

I picked up a new-ish VW Rabbit (2008 Certified Pre-Owned) over the weekend for my fiancee... I must say that I'm impressed. Anyone have long-term experience with these?

VW does make a good car, Had a fox quite awhile ago and it ran great for a lot of miles. Started with 55K and traded it with 260K. Good mpg's and not much in repairs besides tires, brakes and shocks.

Hers now has 48k and the dealer threw in a new set of tires with tire and rim road hazzard insurance. Looking back on it... this is the first time I've bought a car and felt like I was the one that screwed the dealer. LoL

$9,000 less than the sticker for an identically equipped 2012. And it came with the 2yr/24k mile Certified Preowned warranty.

We rented a 2010 and drove it all over Ireland, thought it was an excellent road car as well as good in the small towns. The TDI version is very attractive compared with the smart - except for the initial purchase price.

If I had found a diesel... I'm pretty sure that my honey would have gotten a smart for her wedding present. LOL
