VW shows 170 mpg tandem diesel hybrid two-seater

This VW tandem reminds me of a modern Messerschmitt KR200.

Have one these on a trailer pulled by a Smart Fortwo?

Oh great, another cool rig that our beloved politicians won't let us have because their buddies that fly them free and entertain them are in the gasoline business, not the diesel business.

BMW is supposedly bringing diesels to the USA. I have seen commercials for it. Why not Volkswagen?

They have, I've been seeing Jetta TDIs chugging around lately. I never knew Turbo Diesels puffed out black smoke like the semis...

And I've seen a couple New Beetle TDIs.
