What auto recession?

buried in there is this nugget of info on EU smart sales:

BMW ran strong in Europe: four-month sales are up 12%. The BMW Mini was up 27.5% in the four months, and the tiny Smart car, a Daimler brand, was up 63%.

Another story this morning is GM closing four truck plants, including the one in the Dayton, OH area.

What recession, period.

A recession is by definition two or more quarters of negative growth.

Well, we haven't had a single one negative quarter, so by definition it is not possible that there is a recession in the 1st half of 2008.

We always seem to have to have some kind of major economic problem or recession brewing until just after the general election and then "poof" it magically goes away. Every four years like clockwork.

and yet another story....for the first time since Oct 1991 a car has outsold a F-series pickup....actually two Toyotas this time. May sales of F-series Fords fell to 42,973, while Corolla has surpassed Camry as the US vehicle sales leader, 52,826 vs 51,291. The times they are a changing....

Corolla is a decent car for decent money, I have a 08 Scion X-B, same platform.

First car I have ever drivern 14 hours straight and was not sore and such. 20K and MPG history is 30 MPG total. That is hard to compete with.

Just saw a news flash that GM will sell off or discontinue the Hummer line!! WOW!!

Problem is you can't feed your family or pay your mortgage with that definition.

I haven't like the Hummer since it was a military only vehicle.
