Your current car's MPG

One of the main reasons I'm getting the smart is the MPG. So I figured I'd calculate the mileage I'm getting on my current car (Saturn Ion), so I could compare it to what others will be getting in their fortwo.

In the last few weeks, I've had the following averages:

25
26.4
24.2
27.7
22.35
26.35

According to fueleconomy.gov, I'm eeking out slightly better than the 24 MPG combined rating, which has apparently been adjusted to 2008 standards.

I generally average in the low 20's with both cars we drive- the MINI closer to 25, and the PT nearer 20.

I compared my Subaru H-6's mileage (mostly highway on a long trip) and got 25 compared to the EPA's 2008 estimate of 23 highway.

I get 32 mixed driving on my 89 CRX HF with Si engine/tranny transplant, 30 on the Miata and my wife gets 28 mixed on her TSX.
The smart will be my daily driver and will replace the CRX.

I have never figured out how such small cars or my motorcycle gets such crappy milage. My 3 ton diesel truck gets about 18 mpg hwy., unloaded. My motorcycle gets around 52, 750 Honda Shadow. My old Corvair 1965 still gets around 20 mpg hwy. 164 CI or 2.7 ltr. My friends diesel VW gets around 45 and he drives hard. Anyway I bought the Smart for mileage and up to date saftey features, plus most of the vehicles I see only have one person in them anyway. So why more than 2 seats.

I get about 20 in my Honda Ridgeline and 31 in the 2005 Scion xB. The smart will allow me to just use the Ridgeline when going camping, hauling, or trips. Wife uses the Scion and it is a heck of a roomy car for it's outside size and mileage.

I'm getting mid-to-high 26's on my daily commute. 27-28 if I go on the highway at all.
30-31 on highway only.
My wife also has an 05 Scion TC. She gets about 1 mpg worse than I do.
Both run on Castrol Syntec 5W-30 and the cheapest gas we can find.

Lookin' forward to getting a LOT better in the smart...

In the winter I'm driving the Audi A6 with 2.8L Quattro. Around the suburban area and on my daily commute I get 18-19 MPG. Highway I see 27-28, but only take a highway trip maybe once a month at best. This is with mid-grade (91) Sunoco gas.

The rest of the year I'm riding the Vespa or Burgman scooters. I average 58 MPG on the Vespa with 93 octane Sunoco, and 62 with the Burgman with 91 octane Sunoco. Since I ride slightly more miles in a year than I drive, that comes to somewhere near a 40MPG average.
