I have had MINIs they are GREAT. I prefer the '05/'06 S models. Manual of course. That year the tranny got some well needed improvements and the newest ones are full of gremlins still from basically being a completely different car. Now the '02 had some really nice suspension if you prefer a rougher and more responsive feel for racing. '03/'04 was softer again, but it seemed a nice ballance in '05/'06.
In other news the Cobra is officially for sale.
It's a georgeous ride, but really I have not found the connection I have found with any of my previous rides.
