when trying to fire up; coughs, spudders, lots of black exhaust, engine and small wrench idiot lites on. she was fine the day before. any ideas on problem and/or cure? i am in the middle of nowhere michigan. thanks
I have a 05 g/k and after my exhaust change and rather hard freeway driving at night the next morning at first start it missed badly and poured white thick smoke from my new aftermarket exhaust...
I first checked as should you for oil contamination... Look at color of dip stick to see if oil is brown or white... If the head gasket popped then most likely youl have coolant fluid in your oil.. also check your coolant for oil chunks floating about..... but what your looking for is why you have either oil or cooloant into your exhaust side of your motor. its to hard for a compression check to reach the plugs.
After i ran my smart twice the white smoke went away and my check engine light was from the misfire.. I believe i had some new exhaust packing break loose and load up with oil and it caused my problem.. Maybe you have some oil blow by in your hot side of your turbo and now your burning oil.... that would cause your check lights... if you can afford to buy a obd2 scanner you can pull the code and clear it...
what color is the smoke and what is the oil level on the dipstick at and coolant levels and colors?
i'll look for a reply from you later to see if i can help you out..
