Check engine light on three times...

I am new to this forum and need some help please!! I picked up my 09 Passion 9 days ago and its been in the shop twice. The problems that Im experiencing is when I tried to accelerate from a stopped or coasting postion (20 mph) I would feel the engine or transmission drive rough , does not let me accelerate and check engine light flashes. I pull over and turn off the car and re-start it. No problems after that. The first stored code came up as a MISFIRE and they changed the coil pack. I drove the car home with no problems until 5 days later when the same problem reoccurred twice. I took it back to my dealer and the stored coDe came back again as a MISFIRE. They changed a plug & wire from one of the cylinder. Before returning it to me they again test drove it again a MISFIRE code came up again. This time they changed a sensor. So far so good, only time will tell. The people over at my dealership have all been very helpful. Starting from the service advisor, service manager and the manager from smart. They have all been great and even thou they are 2 1/2 hours away from me I am very confident they are doing there best in resolving these issues. I would appreciate any and all imput. Thanks in advance.

2 1/2 hours?? What dealer are you going to? Orlando is only about an hour form you across the Beachline. Check with Garrett in Orlando... he should be able to figure it out.

After the coil change when the light came on for the second time... did it feel rough again???

If it's still having issues the dealer should replace it... just make sure you document everything.

Down boy... We both know the dealership isn't the problem... it the nut jobs down the street in the service dept at the MB dealership.

Though it sounds like this guy is driving to Boca or Jax for a dealer... This doesn't sound like the dealership isn't trying...

Six replies and all i read was about where i took my car for service. My experience at the service dept could be way different for each individual.and to set the record straight orlando was useless to me forcing me to go back to where i purchased my car and being treated well. So thanks anyway- these's forum's are totally useless.....

I just got my Passion Coupe on April 8th. Today, my check engine light came on when I was on my way home from work and I was worried only because it's a brand new car. I live almost 1 hour away from the dealership. Did you have to drive your car all the way to the dealership or get it towed? i'm gonna have to call them tomorrow. I'd hate to spend money on towing it all the way to sacramento.
I really couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with it driving home. I think the acceleration part you mentioned is similar and I smelt something funny, but then again, it could be the exhaust from the car in front of me.
*sigh* sux to have issues on a brand new car. I just hope it's nothing serious. I'm glad I came upon your post.
OH! and I just realized that when I accelerate (more recent), i feel like it starts out slow and then bursts almost like a hiccup..or could it just be my acceleration. I know it hesitates, but this wasn't hesitation, more like a burst or pop of acceleration (sorry, I don't know how else to describe it =/). I'm still getting to know my Smart...does that 'pop' sound normal?
Thanks for the post, cuz I'm the one that needs some help right now.
