exhaust modification?

Has anyone modified there stock muffler? I want better flow and more noise. I've Been looking for a Brabus muffler. I Like the center outlets. Been thinking about making my own muffler system, but that big muffler/ cat converter thats on there puzzles me. How much of it is Cat converter and how much is muffler? I was going to take it off and cut it open to see whats in it.. I want to keep the cat converter, but fabricate something to flow better, and have a better sound....

Maxwell is sporting the Doug Thorley exhaust. Had a write-up here a few months back. Very straight-forward install except for the very tight spaces involved, although that will be true with any aftermarket mod. Nice dual center exit. No help in the mileage dept but it sounds bad-ass. Almost too loud actually.

If you are looking for a 450 exhaust we can bring something in from our overseas suppliers for you. Just drop me a PM if you are interested. We stock some 450 parts and are growing our 450 inventory weekly.

Thanks
Boris

Ok.....I got brave after checking out ''Randyzimmer'' post, and I went ahead and drilled two 1-1/4" holes in the center close to the bottom of my muffler. Sounded pretty good, so I trimed the panel and heat shield out some, and (gas) welded on two short stainless steel 2" tips. I left the original tip open, just cut it off a little shorter, so you can't see it. Sounds real good, not real loud, looks like Brabus muffler. I'll have to drive it some to see if there is a power or MPG improvement.. sounds respectible...I'm happy..Will post Pics later......
