Forge Dump Valve Kit

After having a great talk with 24-42, I purchased the Forge dump valve kit for the 450. I have installed it and will post pictures and video later. For now, lets talk about how to order it.

24-42 told me about a trick someone told him when ordering from Forge. To order anything of Forge's, use Forge Motorsport (the co.uk site). Upon checking out, in the comments section, tell them you would like the order to be fulfilled by their USA office in Orlando, FL. It adds a couple of days to the arrival of the part, but you can avoid the USD to GBP conversion (brutal right now).

Its a very simple fit, however, if you have the forge intercooler hoses, there is a little bit of a bend added to the top intercooler hose after fitting the dump valve. If you have the ability to cut silicone well, I would suggest trimming a little off of the part of the intercooler hose that connects to the silicone T hose that comes with the dump valve kit.

Also, Forge gives you more than enough of the rubber tubing for connecting the dump valve to the fuel pressure regulator. It really is a very simple install. And its made my shifting smoother when the turbo is going.

Now if I can just get that Brabus steering wheel with the paddle shifters......

Brian, I have been keeping my eye out for a brabus steering wheel for you and I have one. I bought one last year to fit to my girlfriend's car but as she dumped me a few weeks back I think I might sell it on to recoop the money I lost.

Did you get the standard Forge DV or the one that I designed for them with the reduce outlet? Also working with them on a 1 piece upper IC hose with the DV neck built in.

Briansmart and I of course got the DV you designed. I was only motivated to purchase one after I read your your report.

I think it was chasgould that after he got the one you designed informed me of his pleasure with it and then relayed the procedure to get it through Forge US.

I have never figured out which spring to use, any help there would be appreciated.

I've been running the same DV as well for 20,000 miles with no problems at all. I have had no problems with any of the oil spray that I have read about but this could be due to the fact that I have installed an oil catch tank. I was even able to fit it with the pipercross CAI kit. What I really noticed after the install was the shift times seemed to improve. I know there is a lot of recommendation against a DV on the UK forums but I think it is worth it and recommend it to others.

I could be wrong but I believe that Forge now only sells the one you designed. I am interested to see the 1 piece upper IC hose as the DV kit makes the upper intercooler hose just a little too tall.

Correction. I have the Forge silicone intercooler hoses, not the stock hoses. So with the Forge DV kit's silicone t-piece it has increased the height of the upper intercooler hose.

If you are adding the Forge DV kit to the stock upper intercooler hose per Forge's instructions, you should not notice a difference in height.

Increasing the height of the top intercooler hose isn't such a bad thing. It is of concern if you have the Forge silicone intercooler hoses fitted as the increased height forces the top breather pipe to sit on top of the top intercooler hose. This can be seen in the first picture of this post:
http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/f70/forge-dump-valve-kit-25010/#post258329
The top breather pipe is the black, u-shaped hose on top of the blue one.

This makes the breather pipe too close to the engine lid for MY personal comfort. However, I have tried routing the breather pipe below the top intercooler hose and that makes me even more uncomfortable. Routing under the intercooler hose requires the breather pipe to bend a bit awkwardly, thus creating risk for something to go wrong.

Micromachine, two things.

First, the UK forums that do not recommend a DV must not know about Kane and Evilution.

Second, did you follow the guide on Evilution for fitting a catch tank? I could be wrong, but don't you have pictures of your catch tank assembly on a forum? I'd love to pick your brain about this. I believe the connection that needs to be sealed off when you add a catch tank is from a hose that runs from the bottom of the turbo to the TIK pipe. I also believe that, on my car, this hose has broken when I was fitting the Forge TIK and intercooler hoses. Or shortly there after.

Instead of trying to track down this specific hose, I am considering fitting a catch tank, thus negating any need to track down a replacement hose from Canada or Europe.

briansmart,

i do have a catch tank installed. Send me a pm with your email address and I can send photos of the catch tank set up. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the catch tank or whatever. I got pretty serious about my car last year and it's a blast. It now dynos at 102 bhp and is a blast to drive.
