The car can remember up to 4 keys, so 4 seperate rolling codes.
If you unlock the car through the boot, the immobiliser is still on.

Decode chip is in the SAM unit and all immobiliser switching is done in chip.

I do feel good knowing I am your friend, I am not at you.

When the total subject matter of a post implies, infers and addresses one model, with a unique problem, even an average person reasons duductively.

I quote, "I would be willing to do this (for the cost of shipping) for my fellow USA 450 owners".

I think you'll find that when a 450 owner addresses '450 owners' , the application is for the 450model only.

There now that we have spoken our minds, let's go on with the subject of this Website.

cheers

I would think that "fellow 450 owners" would imply that he is too a 450 owner...

It should scare you

We currently have one key that is out of sync on a 2005 Passion. It would not start the car, the "key" icon on the dash would not go away. The other key works fine. From what I have been able to find out on the UK site, if you are far away from your car and press the key button several times it will be totally out of synch with the car. Imagine a small child pressing the button while you are at work, it renders the key useless. I am contacting the Mercedes dealership to see if they can resync it. Will let you know what happens and how much $$$$

With the STAR you open the programming mode & tell the car to accept the keys you have there at the time. Working on the keys as Kane says is the wrong way to look at it. You need to find someone in the US who has a STAR and the Smart software, we have a customer in UAE who has the correct kit & is set up for TAN codes so it is possible to do this where there is no support from MB for this.

If you find a dealer with the correct kit but who need a nudge in the right direction get them to contact us as we will help them to help you!

The 450 does not have a key hole under the door handle, no key hole at all on the doors, just on the rear hatch, if the hatch is unlocked with the key, still wont start, unless you press unlock on the remote, then if you unlock the doors and leave the keys in the ignition and wait about 5 minutes or more won't start, till you press unlock again! a little tricky!
