It shouldn't; the alarm chirps through its own siren, not the horn.

I installed mine through the wheel well using the original bracket and bolt. It also is mounted in front of the bracket like the OEM horn. I was working alone and didn't want to risk scratching the panels if I removed them.

I would NOT try it that way again. It was a frustrating process trying to line up the new horn, and I really bruised and scraped up my arm on the washer fluid reservoir. Get a buddy to help, remove the fenders, and enjoy the project instead of fighting it.

The new horn is REALLY worth the installation effort. Highly recommended mod.

I think I'm going to have to try this horn swap. The OEM horn is the only thing that I really dislike about my smart. It sounds not only puny, but SICK! (and not in a good way )

Jim's right that it's a tight space. I, too, got pretty thoroughly scraped up. I thought it was because I was doing it inbetween snow storms and, it was barely 40 in my garage. I thought it was because I was kinda in a hurry since I was freezing my tukus off (as they say in these parts) but it may be a fact of life when of trying to maneuver in that small space.

Reading this thread has me saying "I must get this better horn"
I'm near the DC area in Gaithersburg, MD. Weather is getting nicer and I can definitely shoot the install and even edit it together and post it on the tube for everyone to have a go at it. ( shoot TV shows for a living).
So how much are these horns?. Anywhere local to get them? PM me. let me know.

~$40, mail order from numerous places (Griot's Garage, Aerostich, JC Whitney, &c.). Someone may have it locally, but I've never seen it in my local AutoZone or Advance Auto.

FWIW, I'm pulling the front of my Cabrio apart to put in blacked-out headlamps, a color-matched front valance, and fog lamps already anyway, so doing the horn at the same time is no problem at all.

Had the dealer do the Stebel install and love the difference in sound volumn. Now I have a real horn!

Very nice of you to volunteer your time on this. Real nice guy.

They're $35.84 on Amazon.com with free shipping. FWIW, one poster has mentioned that Harbor Freight often has them on sale.

smart center near me can't seem to figure out how to install the Hella Supertone horns I bought. They say there's a special harness I need that isn't made anymore. Do you have any idea what they're talking about? Appreciate any assistance you can lend.
Thanks

I have these horns and mounted them on either side of the radiator without any problems.
They sound great by the way.
