I'm a 1173 in the Richmond VA area. Customers in our area were expected to have Checkered Flag in VA Beach as our dealer. That dealership isn't expected to open until February. Until then, our servicing dealer is "Smart Alexandria". They called me this morning, gave me my VIN number, said my car was in Baltimore and being delivered to their location in about a week. They will be open in about a week to 10 days, and I should be able to pick up my vehicle in two weeks. They said that they had just started calling people and they would get about 41 vehicles and 3 showroom models in the first 30 days.

Did Alexandria specifically know that they were temporarily covering for Checkered Flag (smart center VAB), or did IB just put VAB people in Alexandria's pile? scVAB won't complete until the 4th week of FEB.

2nd post: The person who called me was Gary. He had a pile of documents in front of him and from that paperwork he got me my VIN. Maybe he had my VIN because it was cleared for departure from Baltimore.

3rd post: Smart Alexandria told me that I was assigned to their dealership temporarily because my dealership was not ready to open up and make deliveries yet. I don't think he mentioned Checkered Flag Va Beach, that was info I had picked up somewhere along the way.

I wonder if anyone has heard from the Tyson's corner center. Being a PAG dealer I would think they are ready.

They didn't give me my vin anyone get a VA quote on insurance.

I have USAA with my other car.
Just checked on their website, but the smart 2008 is not listed for a insurance quote yet. I plan to call them soon to find out.

Not quoted was the reduction in premium on my original vehicle to account for the 9k miles use moved to the smart, nor the cancellation of un-needed replacement vehicle coverage.

The last time I talked to an underwriter about the whole package, the net increase for the smart was $126/6-mos.

If the smart doesn't come with OEM DRLs, I will quickly add them.

So how did you get the quote from USAA?
Web site or call?

The first time it was a call to the underwriters. Later it was online with Mercedes smart in my profile. I need to call again to get an updated quote and adjustment to my whole package. But typical of USAA, even without knowing anything about the car or its loss history they offered coverage.
