July anniversary meet and greet - Smart Car of America Forums : Smart Car Forum

I am going to get this one going on now as we all know the summer is upon us and we know there are those outdoor events that happen often. One such event that took place about that time frame last year was the first meet and greet ever among the owners of the Smarts. I was not an owner then, but this is where it seemed to get off the ground. This was a great time, and i think we need to live it again and celebrate.

Here is what i have in mind, and will get the ok first. The parking lot is huge so that should not be an issue.

July 11th ( A saturday)
Jukebox Diner
on the corner of Columbia pike and John Marr Drive
Annandale, VA

the time 3.00 pm until whenever, we can go for a time to dine about 5.00 should give some social time before then and plenty of photo ops.

Those awaiting their Smarts are certainly welcome, this was a time for me to see some of these cars and meet owners ( Oh and to find out my standing on the then huge orphan list). Hope to see a really good crowd there.

I think there is a regular gathering there on Friday nights. People showing off their cars. I'm not sure of the time frame. I'll check into it.

Would a Friday night gathering work?

Yes that is very true, but they have not met in weeks why i don't know. It is from about 6.00 til 10.00. I been there with my Smart and been accepted as one of the guys.
A friday night thing can be arranged if the custom rods and classics meet there still. I will look into it.

IT IS A GO!!!!!

The manager is fine with the meeting for July 11th. However the time has changed, due to the business this place does, I am going to say meet at the above named place at 3.00 p.m. Same date, and of course the idea is to go for eating time about 5.00 p.m., however, since it is a saturday night, lets really add some good times to the celebration.

What i really like to do is take a cruise down Columbia Pike to that memorial near the Pentagon for a good photo shoot. The parking lot i find is pretty empty after closing time, and will provide a good poster perfect photograph in front of the place. True we could park in the grassy area directly in front of the complex, but there are those who may not take kindly to that. Not only would a cruise be a blast, there be lots of looks from the drivers on the road.

Let me know if you are a definite to go and lets do this with a bang.

By George, I got to double check my calendar at home, but I do believe I can do this one. I have something going on but I'm pretty sure that is the 18th.

I'm going to have to wash the smart though.

I will try to make it! I have a lot to catch up with the smart folks...with my 32,000 miles on my car...

faith in dc, if you take your car to dealer, they will wash you car for free.
