Mid-Atlantic photo shoot search

The National Park Headquarters (located on the East Potomac Park, in SW Washington DC) doesn't see any location suitable for a photo op within its jurisdiction in DC.
I went there this morning, and they were not ready to close any location for the occasion (next Spring). I mentioned the Lincoln Memorial: out of bound. The Park Police wouldn't close Jefferson or Madison Drives, because of the concession access.
As for the cross streets through the Mall, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 14th and 17th, they fall under the DC Police jurisdiction.
A good idea would be (says the NPS) to contact the DC Film Commission. The National Park Service is ready to study any formal request filed with them.

But a better idea would be to have the help of Mayor Fenti, a smart owner himself.

Update on the now and momentarily defunct idea of the photo shoot on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: it is under construction. It will probably be finished for the Inauguration. Here is today's status.

The local region would like to have the opportunity to stage a photo op with a DC landmark similar to the one that the San Francisco region did on Lombard Street there. I heard back from the Mayor (really customer service, DC govt.). They supplied a contact at NPS and their snail mail address. Also, this was at the bottom of the message which I thought to be nice but it was in response to an email, odd...

"My Administration is going green! To promote green living and a healthy environment, please join our efforts to reduce paper waste by sending future scheduling requests to fentyscheduler@dc.gov. Thanks for writing."

I'll continue my campaign with the Park Service and update when I get a response. Maybe we'll be able to surround the national Xmas Tree on the Ellipse?

I agree, and i was in downtown Dc tuesday shopping for an expenisive pair of shoes. I was at Connecticut Ave NW and really my car was in it's perfect element. A photo shoot of any kind in DC be sweet.
