Tysons Dealer Service Question

Does anyone know if their service dept has a drop box? I was getting on 66 this morning and my check engine light came on, (or as the book calls it "Engine Malfunction"... Sounds worse than check engine to me.) I wanted to drop it off there today but wanted to make sure they have a drop box before I drive out there. I'm so disheartened at the thought of being without my smart! 3800 miles and this is the first issue I've had with it.

Thanks.

Sorry 'HighIQCar', I don't know for Tysons. I do know that Lindsay has one, but that's no help to you, right now.
Let's hope that Wallace 'wrumbarger' sees this post and can tell. You may want to drop him a PM...

Yes, there is a drop box at Tyson's

Howdy all

Yes, there is a "night owl" key drop box at Tyson's.

Pull up to the "Service" area. If the Automatic roll up door doesn't (roll up)
Then park your smart, and there is a black box by the pedestrian door (left)
Fill out an envelope (name, yada yada yada)
Lock your car, key in envelope, drop in drop slot.

Service opens at 7AM, but I have seen guys there at 6:30?

Just wanted to add a bit. The service center is actually right next door at the Mercedes dealership. And Jim is awesome. He and his crew found an issue with my smart I never would have known about and fixed my smart right up. They got good trained ears over there.

Everyone at Tyson is really nice but they overcharge compared to Lindsay Alexandria.

Here's one example.

As you stated, The folks at Tysons are really nice, but the folks at the Lindsay dealer are fron when i was there are really rude, and very arrogant in my opinon. For the little extra cost, i don't mind at all since the guys there are dealing strictly with Daimler product. The other one is moslty GM material.

I've actually had the opposite experience that some people have reported between Linday and Tysons.

I took my car in to Tysons since it is the closest dealership to me (I actually took delivery through Annapolis). Things got off to a bad start with a miscommunication on their part that meant I couldn't get my car properly looked at. I admit I was a bit testy after driving 45 minutes through rush hour traffic only to find they couldn’t do anything. I managed to get a tech to take my car for a test drive with me to listen to several noises. Even though they were fairly obvious, the tech couldn’t hear some and wouldn't commit to whether or not the others could be fixed or even if they could take the door apart to see what they were. At one point he informed me that he could not look inside my panels because it would be inventing work and that would be morally wrong- insinuating very strongly that the noises I was reporting were non-existent. I felt like my time was just being wasted because I hadn't purchased my car there and they didn't honestly care.

I ended up taking my smart all the way back to Annapolis to have it fixed because I knew they would care since they sold me the car in the first place. They managed to fix all the noises but one (took the entire driver-side door and mirror assembly apart and replaced the driver-side speaker). The last noise went away on its own and hasn’t come back.

A few weeks later I ended up taking my car to Alexandria for my safety inspection and found them to be friendly, if slow. Even though I didn't have any real issues looked into there they seemed very pleasant to work with. Just based on these experiences I plan on taking my car back to Lindsay for any issues.
