I have a garmin nuvi 200W and it works just fine. I put it where the clock and tach would be if I had ordered those. I put a little blue smart in there to drive around on the map as ckigar described above. I dont know how much it cost as it was a gift. I would guess around 250.00.

The 660 does 'speak' thruogh my FM radio via it's built in transmitter. I can also use the cell ->bluetooth->fm radio setup.
here is a link to the camparision chart:

Amazon Amazon

It appears that the sole difference between the 660 and the 680 is MSN subscription.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and use a bean bag mount. I can move it from car to car and it leaves no suction cup rings on the window. It is very secure with the nonslip bottom on the mount. Also very pocketable when walking around the city.

I didn't think I needed one. I've been in business at the same address for 19 years. I never got lost going to work or home.

I do have a Bluetooth-compatible phone. From what I saw online, both the 660 and the 680 have Bluetooth, and so does the Streetpilot c550. So many choices! I really don't want to spend much on it. I've never had GPS, but there are many times I wish I did. Usually I just call my husband and ask him ** he's my human GPS.

If that is the only place you're driving I tend to agree

I have a bad sense of direction and find navs very very useful for directions, alternate routes, and looking up places - love them!

c550

I have a C550, which is basically the same unit as the one smart sells in Europe. I downloaded a smart logo splash screen and a smart car icon. Now when I drive, I see my white fortwo on the GPS screen.

In every case that I can recall the main advantage in buying an option from a car dealership is to ensure that the add-on is functionally or stylistically compatible with the automobile. When it comes to a Garmin GPS (which I highly recommend), there is no clear advantage from buying from the dealership. However, if there is a SMART-specific mounting system sold by the dealership for Garmin GPS, I would certainly be interested in purchasing it. Still, I would buy the Garmin GPS elsewhere.

I have used Garmin GPSs for over a decade and have bought their new releases every couple of years, or so. As the new releases emerged in the market, they arrived with better features at a lower cost. My last purchase was about a year and a half ago. It was the Nuvi 680 (paid nearly $800, but now available for less than $400). It still meets my needs and map upgrades can be downloaded throughout the years (at a reasonable cost). Still, I would look at Garmin's latest from their website and consider buying that (as it would likely have the same or more features than older versions at an even lower cost. The pleasant technology trend of getting more for less cost as time goes on applies to Garmin GPSs as well.

Now what I am curious about is, if there is a Garmin GPS mount designed specifically for the Smart fortwo, who has it, how much does it cost, what models of Garmin's GPSs does it support (Garmin mounting systems vary with models), and how can I buy it?

I just bought the Garmin Nuvi 855 ($500.00), for 299.00 from Costco on their website. They were the ONLY ones that guaranteed 100% purchased price return on satisfaction warranty.

Installation consists of: plugging it in the cigarette lighter plug. Don't need no "stink-in " dealer for further mark up.
