Bloomfield Smart Emerges.

Here's a shot my wife took this morning 1-3-08.

I'll try to get in there this week and see if I can get the up to date scoop on what is happening here in Michigan.

Shucks, Jack. Save your strength. NOTHING is happening. Wait two more rizzafrizzarabbafrabbit weeks. Maybe then we'll have something. 'Til then, just more of the same. Hurry up and wait.

Our cars held at the auto show?

HD and Sisyphus.

Someone else posted this theory a couple of weeks ago. At that time I thought Nah! But now I'm not so sure.

This will be another major press event and they will need lots of cars and personnel to work the show. I hope they don't forget about us

I was hoping for a Jan delivery, but now I doubt it. I'm an 1176

A2Jack.

I may have very well been the one that posted that, since I did put those thoughts out there about that time. I just looked up the PRESS PREVIEW dates, and noticed that it's Sunday Jan 13th-Tuesday, Jan. 15th. Hmmmm, do those dates ring home for you guys? I think we're all being 'locked out' for the big PRESS GLITZ so that the free advertising gets FULL IMPACT.

I could even understand their not letting us take the cars off the lots until after that date, if they'd at least let us start our other purchase proceedings. I for one would like a little 'lead time' to contact my insurance company and pick up a certificate of insurance, etc. without feeling like every second it takes me is holding up my delivery time. That would just be common decency in my book for them to share what they could as early as they could.

I think these decisions are being determined strictly for dollars and cents without any sensitivity towards doing what is best for the purchasers. We have no choice but to wait, but our respect for them as brilliant decision makers and our being part of the Smart Family is waning by the second.

I sure would appreciate getting my VIN NUMBER and other financial figures that would allow me to determine my loan amount as soon as possible. It's going to be intolerable enough driving two hours to get to the dealership let alone wasting time running around and calling businesses at the last second to put everything in place for a purchase.

Hey guys, wouldn't it be cool if we all met up at the dealership one day and took a group pic with our old rides, and then later this year a new pic with all our smarts?

HarleyDuo: Maybe some of us are not happy with the 'rents right now, but all us kids gotta stick together!

I'm good and in control contrary to what some believe.

I think there are many here that are totally misinterpreting the intentions of those who have expressed their feelings of frustration from the way they have been treated. I have expressed those feelings simply to let those at the top who may be reading these forums see how their actions or lack of same affect the very individuals who have and will make them successful.

I also received lots of public relations training in my career and know that if nobody ever brings their disappointments to the surface they most likely will not be dealt with in a positive way.

People who have pointed out shortcomings are NOT a bunch 'hotheads' or 'wild, irresponsible individuals' and those who choose to jump on the 'condemnation bandwagon' are bordering on having condescending attitudes.

I think some feel that when a company chooses to tell their customers that they can become 'insiders', then that company has in essence made a verbal commitment to step up the communications to those 'insiders' to keep them informed, otherwise, it's just a sham.

I think most of us who have expressed disappointments along the way, have used words like 'disappointed' to show our sentiments. Sure some have become angry, but I suggest that it would have taken the least little bit of communication from the top to keep those feelings in check.

I would suspect that most would agree that one of the main purposes of a forum like this is provide support for one another and not to take 'holier than thou' stances and put people down who may not feel the same as you do.

Since the main company has so much information about how to get in contact with us all, and can contact us to wish us happy holidays, then they should be able to simply tell us what is going on. It almost seems like certain 'insiders' have tidbits of information leaked to them, but then nobody is sure of how 'official' that is.

We're told one thing about how no dealerships will be opening yet because of delays, but then there's the Smart House that's been open for quite some time. I don't feel that people are demanding all the storefronts have to be open, I just think people are confused and tired of being in the dark. If you go back and read how much misinformation has been posted, or information has changed since it was posted, it just makes it more obvious why the company's PR person should be working overtime to keep people informed with accurate up-to-date information, even if it changes later on.

Let's not confuse wanting to be treated 'decently' with being over-demanding and not understanding. We all have our own opinions and I hope this forum doesn't ever make people feel that they are not welcome to express them as they relate to the Smart car.

I totally agree with you Harleyduo. You summed up exactly the way I feel. I'm not in a particular hurry to receive my smart like some are here. The longer it takes to get my smart the more I can save for a down payment. I just wish that smart USA's website was maintained better and that information was more forth coming. What does being an "insider" mean. So far it has not meant much. I'm not mad, upset, hysterically, or impatient. I'm just a bit disappointed in smart right now and the way they are currently handling things. Today is Friday. Has anyone received a confirmation today? Is smart waiting till dealerships officially opening? We won't know till next week or the week after. I know their are a million and one excuses made here or their actions, but still. I hope that smart succeeds this year and everyone receives their car this year.

Stopped by smart center Bloomfield today - and progress continues. Most of the Black facing on the building is compete, and office furniture in place.

To the left (out of view) side of a2j's photo is a 8x20 room walled off from the main showroom, with a full glass wall facing the street that they call their "Macys window" and it does look like the old department store windows. There are currently 3 smarts lined up in there(red/silver/red cab, white/silver/beige cab, and blue/silver/red passion). Looks awesome from the street.

Won't be long now guys and gals.

The "insiders" where those who gave up their email addresses back very early last year so they would be the first to know about the $99 reservation process. All we got back then were emails. Then in March we got the word that we could plop down our $99. That was nice to know before they announced it to the general public. So being an insider meant a lot to me. It meant I got a 1173 reservation!

No confirmations went out last week (New Years Day holiday I suppose). So a suspension of sending out confirmations during the past two weeks is excusable.

The last website update in December said dealers would be announced before the end of January. So far they are keeping to announced schedule.
