I'm having so much fun! aka "too much time on my hands"

Yesterday afternoon when I left work there was a note under my wiper blade. At first I thought it was about parking in the parking deck. (I set the rent-a-cops straight on that issue). But someone else where I work we be getting a smart soon.

Here is most of the note... "I would like to know how you really like the smart car. I'm about to take delivery of mine...." I'll be giving him a call sometime today.

I wonder if is a member of this forum? If not... I'll pass on the web address.

I got the call today that mine is in, but I probably won't pick it up until a week from Saturday, on the 19th. I need to stay near home this week waiting for people to come visit and Shane won't be in on Saturday. During the work week is just too hard logistically, so I'll just wait until the 19th ** it's hard knowing it's sitting there, but I can deal with it.

Since that's the day of the next outing and the group will be coming to the dealership, maybe you can all stand by while I take delivery! I'll probably be setting up my appointment for about 2:00.

I love this idea - we can group hug the new little one - maybe we should bring Champagne - no, too messy. Especially after learning how to detail . . .

You may not know this, but I've always considered your contributions to this forum to be some of the most insightful, informative, knowledgeable and interesting to ever have been posted in the history of SCoA.

It is in this spirit that I volunteer to rescue your Red Passion Cabriolet (w/black leather interior) from smart Center Bloomfield, take it home with me, and keep it safe for you. I promise to keep it well nourished, well looked after and keep it shiny, bright and clean. I will also tuck it in every night and tell it bed-time stories about it's european relatives and their struggle to come to the good ol' USofA.

I promise not to drive it (much), not to smile (much) while I'm not driving it and to generally not enjoy (yeah...right!) the whole smart experience.

This offer has nothing to do with the fact that I, too, have a Red Passion Cabriolet (also w/black leather interior) on order. I promise I will (someday, anyway!) give it (maybe) back to you.

I know this is very generous of me, but please think nothing of it! You can take as much time (months?) as you like, knowing your cabi will be well looked after.

My mom passed away over the weekend after a three-month battle with cancer, complicated by 10 days with a sepsis infection in February, so I'm home all week. If I get the call, I probably won't be able to pick it up until at least Saturday. I'm thinking I probably won't get it until sometime next week at this point, but we'll see.

It will be nice to have my new smartie to help cheer me up. It's been a roller coaster ride and now I have to learn how to live a normal life again.

Sharon, my thoughts go out to you - I lost my Mom last May and it was a 2 year hard battle with cancer- in fact - putting my name on the reserve list for a Smartie was one of the first things I did after things settled a little to try and get on with life....now I'm just waiting impatiently
