there may be a thread here somewhere ,and I missed it ,has anyone had thier wheels powder coated after buying thier smart ,and if so what type of business would I look for ,the dealer in my area wants 1400.00 I thought the price was high ,maybe it is or isn't ,anyone have any ideas? also how long does it take,do the tired come off ,do the tire pressure sensors have to be reset?
Had mind done - see my name and photos. Yes tires/wheels come off car, tires dismount and TPS come out. Shop needs to have chemically stripped and then powder paint. Hard to get great coverage next to where spokes meet rims, so check that close. It took about four weeks for me since I was in no rush, he had to find chemical stripper and then re-do the job because of thin spots. Cost $570 I think.
Just reinstall TPS when done, have tires mounted, rebalanced (since these wheels aren't made for TPS and need weights opposite). Then reset the TPS with instructions posted somewhere here or in manual.
